Nope, it's abandonware, been 9.5 years since latest update. Also no support for the x36HPs or newer
The 396XT came out in 2009 though, unless you mean it doesn't support the drivers the USB cable has.
Have u tryed proscan.org instead of freescan freescan is not updated unlike Proscan
Trying it currently, having trouble getting it to stop saying "In Use By This Instance" for the port its plugged into. Tried doing what it says to do if its doing that, still no luck.

Understood I'm just stating the fact that the current Uniden line of scanners aren't supported by an app that hasn't seen updates in almost a decade. Latest update for the 396xt was released almost 2 weeks before Freescan ended product support

and the proscan guy pops up on here to answer questions !
i like to program manually, but i recommend proscan without hesitation, it does make life easy.
and there is a free trial.

Do you have Freescan running? Perhaps it has the same port opened. Close it then try the Auto Detect button. If it still shows 'port in use' then try this: Set the Port to None then click the Set button. Now try the Auto Detect button.

If I can find my cable I will fire up the award winning freescan with my 330t and see how it shows. Some reason thought it should show up as a scanner but might be thinking of my 436.

The cable I bought has good reviews too, so its not like it's a junk one. There's nothing on the scanner you have to press when it's connected to the computer?

Do what was suggested here:

You don't touch the scanner except to turn it on

I still use Freescan for my 996T as the Butel ARC996 no longer supported thus doesn't work on the newer Windows programs.
It works fine on my 996XT as well. I'm using version 2.18 There was a newer version which I tried but did work well with
those scanners and really didn't "like" the 325P2 at all. As a result I went back to v2.18. Chances of finding an older version
of Freescan aren't great. As others have suggested try other software, both ARC XT and Proscan have free demo downloads
if you want to try either one out.
Wouldn't hurt to check your drivers and/or the baud rate settings for the scanner and software

No luck. I'm trying it on ProScan as well, same thing. And I'm assuming even if there's other things plugged into other USB ports, that won't affect anything?

It shouldn’t matter but you can unplug anything not important to try that out. If your running a usb printer just power it down.

Correct. It doesn't mater what's plugged in, just serial port to USB converters when the software has the port opened. Did you do this? Set the Port to None then click the Set button. Now try the Auto Detect button.
