Anyone have much experience in use of the X36s in monitoring MilAir? How do they receive? Any special settings needed? For both the 136 - 144, and UHF sections.

Even though I don't have a ton of mil-air in my area per say, I find the 436 underwhelming in this area. The BCD325P2 and especially the BC125AT are excellent Mil-Air scanners. Only thing is, you won't have on board recording capabilities with those. But if I was looking for a scanner to monitor mil-air or civ air, I always recommend the BC125AT.

I really have to agree with above post. The BC125AT seems to do a LOT better than the BCD436HP with aviation, be it military or civil. I was at a local airport last weekend with a friend shooting photos of military aircraft coming through, he had his BC125AT and I had my 436 and I caught myself listening in to his scanner more than mine. It just seemed to be a lot snappier on the receive than the 436. I also have the BC125AT and will start using it over the 436 while relaxing at the airport shooting photos...

I also have a BC125AT used it at my first airshow and was very impressed!! Very sensitive on both military and civil air. If you're just doing aviation scanning it can't be beat. The one downside is it eats batteries like crazy

I tried my 436 on milair. Picked up a lot of interference and seemed deaf. What it did find was hissy even with 5 bars. My 996t is better.

As far as battery drain goes... use earphones and it will improve the battery life by a long shot
