Yeah, they were like green and 2300 mAh. I cant find my set. I think @W4EMS may have been thinking about the SDS series because he changed his post after I quoted him.

I have Ladda 2450 mAh and get about eight hours with light off and volume around 75 percent. You might want to try discharge/refresh cycle on those.
Is it standard practice to do a discharge/refresh cycle on new batteries?

To be honest, I do not know what standard practice is but my Ladda's are a few years old and I do the cycle once a month or when I see a decrease in my scan time. I have a few sets so I have time between sets. I charge at the 200mAh rate because fast charging is not recommended for NiMH according to Energizer.

The only problem with Eneloop "PRO" is they have a recharge limit of 500 times. The regular Eneloop's will recharge 2,100 times!
Yeah, the higher the capacity of the battery, the fewer times it can be recharged, thus, the shorter the life of the battery.

I always like to try out stuff so I'll give the EBL 2800mah a shot. Thanks for the info. While we're on the subject of battery life, I'm thinking of purchasing the SDS 100. Does anybody know the average batter life of a full charge on the SDS100 battery? I'm a little shy of not being able to use AA's and be at the mercy of the stock battery.

Around 8 hours depending on many factory such as activity monitored and audio level (mostly) and to a lesser degree backlight use.

Anyone have recommendations for a good, high MAH AA battery for this scanner?

The OEM batteries are OK, but I'd like to get a little more than 8 hours before recharging.

When I've needed to replace dead batteries in the past I've usually taken my scanner & battery to a place like "Batteries Plus"--if modern (i.e. .higher capacity batteries) become available since I initially bought the scanner, they know about it and can set me up with the modern update. It's worked for me so far...

my point exactly. (Although having worked for "the big M", I've seen some of their stuff first-hand--rugged stuff!)

I agree. I'm a former user of Motorola LMR radios. Good sturdy products. Even dropped my MT1000 two stories into a burning basement, and when we retrieved it, it was still working. However, now that I'm working in the LMR industry, I work on much better equipment, that costs 1/2 or better.
