Yeah, i cant read the 536 either, unless i use the camera on my phone, i've got bad eyes to begin with...but regardless, i mean, i've got cordless phones in my house, that have displays on them at are 99% easier to see than the 536...There is no doubt that there are many different easier to read displays they could have used. Maybe a black background, white letters, or white, with black BOLD letters, something..
I totally agree With You. Not great planning On someone's part.

The other day a friend of mine recently purchased the 436HP. His serial is one of the new models. As you can clearly see the scanner on the left is the new scanner and the one on the right is a 436 that was recently repaired under the repair campaign. I hate the new displays. I wish I would have just lived with the battery issue.
All I can clearly see is your camera sucks....:D...Its blurry....I still like the one on the right. (Fixed)....If I could see it

It's not about the text, it's about the brightness. We have a winner here folks :p

The fix is white...New serial # is blue. That tells me the new one will dim

I would not take that bet. (I agree with you) BUT, remember that not all the old ones will have the issue, so there is a good chance it will not dim.

I thought all the old stock would be through the distributors by now, but apparently there is still some out there.

As for the display, I like the old color better. I find the new color more readable (likely due to the increased contrast between blue-ish/black vs white-black).

As the the pic, yea - pretty bad. Still, I can read the FL line better on the right one.

I just put my RS 652 for sale today, and already had a bid, then later in the day my 536 bit the dust, after only having it for 14 days.., i turned it off, and picked it up, to dust under it, layed it down, and it wouldnt come back on, no power at all, i dont know what happened. Hopefully HRO will exchange it, or something will be done, i really liked the 536 so far. Had to end my ebay auction, so id still have something to listen too.

I've tried plugging it in, out, back in, different outlets in the house, and it just does nothing at all, like a brick..i miss it already :(

I dont know if something came lose internally or what when i layed it down or what, wasn't the softest landing when i laid it down, but wasn't hard, IMO, but when i turned the power back on, nothing.

Try it without the Sd card once, turn it on if it works it will say "SD card access error", if not, it's then the power supply or scanner.

You agree with me but you don't....
Fact. The fix involved a new board with new leds and a battery fix. And its white (or so). The new serial #s are blue. Why aren't the new Serial #s white? Are the new Serial #s fixed? Are there 2 boards (white and blue)? I doubt it. My bet says new ones will dim................:(

If HRO wants to be nice about it, they'll exchange it for me, since its only been 14 days since it got it, if not, i'll have to send it in i guess.

I don't remember that. I think there is a better chance they will and the new ones too. I like the white and would be more worried about the dust on the inside of the display.

Not really, just hit the table a little harder by accident, regardless, not even hard enough that it should have hurt anything. It's not like it was dropped off a ocuntertop or something, its just quit working... i had it a few inches from the table, and i laid it down kinda hard by accident, which shouldnt have hurt most things, IMO. But no, wasnt dropped.

I've got a 2 radioshack scanners, that i've had for years, and they've been thourgh the same treatment, and i take well care of my stuff, and they've gave me no issues at all.
