HI,
I'm looking threw the proclip products and found the mount for my car. Now the attachment I'm having are problem figuring out what to chose. The Proclip 848636 is discontinued and would have been the one I would have gotten from other post in forums. But what is close to use now? Not big on the CB mic clip. Rather be gripped on sides so not bouncing around.. Any good ideas would be great. Thanks.

This is what I use, even got them at Menard's, have them in all of my vehicles (and one tractor, LOL). I use them on all of my HH scanners, including my 436. They're very secure. They come with vent clips, which I didn't even try to use, and a T-shaped metal "bracket" that can be bent however needed. It has some pretty good 3M adhesive on it that will stick it to the phone holder just fine but YMMV sticking it to the dash, even after multiple cleanings with alcohol. I had to hard-mount it in all but one case, that being my Terrain that I bought new last year and whose dash has not been sullied by Armor-All or any other "protective" gunk. It stuck to that one just fine and has stayed stuck through a full turn of seasons, i.e. heat and cold did not affect it. Other than that, I did have to grind a tiny relief in one clamp with a Dremel tool to keep these things from cramping the power cords on the scanners (the others are GRE800 types), and the only time I've had a scanner pop out of one of these was when I didn't squeeze things tightly enough and in one case where the release button stuck.

I know it ain't a Proclip product but it's cheap and it works, two qualities that really endear things to me, just FYI.

Mount a ram mount ball on the pro clip mount specific for your vehicle. Then mount the ram mount with the fingers to the ball. Or skip the ball completely and drill to holes in the ram mount with fingers and secure it to the proclip. Nothing cheap about this, but your scanner probably won't become a missile in a minor accident.

I have been thinking about the finger ram mount that I have seen other people use. Might be a good idea there. Thanks.
