I see the BCD436HP charger is rated 5v 1 amp. I see a lot of USB to AC chargers are 5v 2 amp is this okay or one to many amps.

This is fine... the scanner will only draw the amount of amps that it uses.

Thank you much. Thats what I was thinking just wanted to make sure.
My Verizon cell charger is 5volts, 1 amp. i had an extra, so now i may plug my 436 into it and charge (which i dont do unless emergency) OR power it while listening. cost me nothing.

here is another idea, scanner stands were $30 or so for a single one, right? i got a picture frame from the $1 store and it works the same. i IS smart. lol

Can this scanner be power with a cell phone usb for base use or only for charging.
You can use it to "power" the scanner (by selecting the serial connection option when it's plugged in), or you can select it to charge the batteries. You CAN NOT do both at the same time. :(
