Well I hate my BCD436HP so bad I just bought a new BCD536HP both meet all my needs atleast I did not PAY $425.99 plus tax $42.50 like I did for my PRO-668 only to have Radioshack drop the bottem out of the market 45 days later for less than $250.00 for a battery hungry scanner that I get 4 hours out of new fully charged batteries mind you the 668 sill has a use just not with batteries. My 436 and 536 perform flawless and out perform my PRO-197 PRO-106 PRO-668 in audio quality and range but I still do not hate Radioshack just hate the fact I spent over $200.00 more for a unsupported scanner.

Do you really only get 4 hours out of the 668? Even with digital decode in a city were scanner is never silent, for more then a second, I still pull around 8 hours on digital, on analog around 12-13 hours, using Eneloop pro's. 4 hours something wrong with batteries, or defective scanner.

Yes that is all I get my PRO668 plus it was one of the first out of the texas warehouse 01/14/2015 and now no support. It does not matter P25 or Analog 4 hours max on new 2400 mil new fully charged batteries using a MAHAC801D charger any 3 of those 4 batteries in my BCD436HP 8 hours plus so that kills it being a battery problem. So you see I have over $3000.00 in RS P25 scanners and I still do not bash them for going under. My RS 668 works for what I use it for just has very poor battery life. My new 536 and 436 do all I need when I get new options I will use them. Prices just think high end scanners have been at $400.00 or more dating back to late 70's.

Very odd, I got about 10 hours on a set of new Duracell 2400ma batteries yesterday, and that was on their second charge. With decent alkaline AA's, I get at least 8 hours. On my set of 1100ma rechargables I get over 4, easy.

That's darn near the exact "burn" times I've noticed on my 436HP.

The best burn time I've had with the 436 are the Sanyo Professional 2500ma batteries. I have not tried any Duracell's yet, but get 10.5 hrs on the Sanyo professionals.

So are we still waiting for the 436 firmware update? My 536 updated three or so weeks ago but Sentinel keeps telling me that my 436 is all up to date. Am I missing something? I was under the impression that the 436 update came out today?

Are you using the current version of Sentinel? Because the update was released about 12 hours ago.

I updated the firmware. I never had any issues with the time, so nothing to say about that. I have noticed greatly improved audio on the Pima County, AZ PCWIN Phase II system though.

I updated my 436 yesterday. Only issue I saw was that after the update, it told me that clock info was lost. I just reset the clock and that was that.No issues after that. It's given me better audio quality on some systems and analog scanning is pretty decent now. It doesn't seem as slow as before. I do wish there was more user control of the 3 line display areas. But all in all, for my needs, I'm happy with my 436.

Updated my 436 a little while ago, quick and simple. I did have to reset the clock. I don't really understand the inclusion of the analyze feature, it's damm close to being totally usless

I'm with you on this one. I don't see a need for it as far as my own needs go..

Reportedly, it does that the first run (and only the first). Likely due to having to time reference saved from the last power-down (which was using the old firmware).

I updated last night, reset the clock, that took care of it. I've been working so haven't had a chance to listen yet to see if there is a noticeable difference on anything. I'll have a chance to play with it this weekend.

So does this fix the need to enter the date and time on every power-on??

If the RTC battery is charged and not defective, then you will not have to enter the date and time on power up.

If the RTC battery is dead/defective, then the scanner prompts you to set the clock, but if no action is taken in 5 or so seconds, the scanner loads a default date and time or something along these lines and will start up without any intervention. Nice to have this feature now if you are in the car or otherwise have your hands busy and want the scanner to start quickly.

HOORAY! WE HAVE ANALYZE!!!!

Now.... what do I do with it? I'll have to see if UPMan has posted any updated manuals that explain what this thing does and how it works. ;)

Personally I think this feature is completely useless. Can anyone provide any useful information on using this.

I use the new analyze feature when trying to listen to distant p25 systems from ,my home location.
Using my yagi antenna I have outside I use the bar graphs to fine tune the signal for strongest signal and highest quality decode. Works real well for this use.
