Hi all,

I just purchased Uniden BCD436HP scanner. I programmed it using Sentinel. All of the normal FM un-encrypted frequencies come in fine. I loaded the Monmouth County Public safety P25 system in and all get is garbled audio. I can see the talk group id's too. Same problem with the Ocean police P25 system too. Can anyone help or suggest any settings I can try changing? Thank you in advance.

Mods-sorry if this in the wrong spot

The reason you hear garbled noise on the Monmouth County P25 system is because all the Law Enforcement talk groups are encrypted. The ones in the clear are the DPW talkgroups. The Ocean Township Police Department is also encrypted.

Thanks for your response. Is there a scanner that is able to decode that encryption?

Also, what system would be a good example of P25 system that's not enrypted?

There will never be a scanner that would decide encryption. It is against the law to decrypt the encryption. To answer your question about any p25 systems to listen to, I would recommend listening to the NJICS system, which has a multitude of state and local talkgroups that are in the clear. Just go to the New Jersey Database and look up that particular system and you could see what might interest you. Since you have the 436hp it decodes both phase one and phase two talkgroups.

There's always the Monmouth County SCAT buses, they check in at least twice a day- only way I know the trunk system works! LOL!
