Would be nice to have the screen light up while scanner boots up so you can see the opening screen info.

Even add the option in the Scanner Info to show opening screen message

I agree. Turning on the screen backlight during bootup would be a trivial firmware change, and would make it much easier to tell whether you successfully turned on the scanner in the dark.
