Hello,

My BCD436hp has been scanning a DMR Motorola TRBO for a local university PD and for some reason it just keeps dropping transmissions (I have DMR upgrade). Here is the site i'm trying to scan: George Washington University Trunking System, Washington, Multi-State - Scanner Frequencies I hear some transmissions, but i'll know i miss some because ill listen to the unit respond awhile later. Could it be my antenna is poor (I'm using the default one)? Could it be some setting I have wrong? I am very new to this and am having a difficult time understanding things like attenuator, modulation, or squelch. My squelch is set to 2. I turned on attenuator for all the TGID's. I turned modulation to auto for all channels. I have just set the radio to scan my favorites list at the university, so it's not like its having to scan 1000 TGID's. CAP is flashing on bottom of screen and by signal strength is also flashing at the top. It's not an encrypted channel because I can hear some transmissions. Sometimes it'll sound like someone is keying up on one of the talk groups but then its just white noise. I turned off battery saver. Can someone help better explain what settings I should be using to ensure that I am hearing all transmissions? Thank in advance.

First thing to do is see how it plays with the antenuatior turn OFF on EVERYTHING you have it turned on to. See what that does for you. If the problem still persists, you can then look at other settings. Think of atenuation as a reduction of signal strength. Much like when you cupped your hands over both ears and reduced the amount of what you hear.

I turned on attenuator for all the TGID's. I turned modulation to auto for all channels.
Attenuator should always be off, unless the signal is so strong it's overloading the receiver (very rare). It reduces signal strength to about 1% of its original level.

I turned it off for all TGID's. I will report back once I have sufficient time to test it. Thanks

So I seem to be having more success with picking up transmissions. Occasionally, it seems like im dropping transmissions still. I was listening tonight and i received most of the transmissions although one of them got dropped out of about 6 transmissions i heard. I set it so that the red light turns on on the front of the radio when a transmission is received and one time the radio illuminated but no sound came out so I am still missing some. Any other settings I could play with to ensure I am receiving all of the transmissions? Thanks
