Good Afternoon,
My question is what should the squelch be set to, should it be set to Open, any number up to 14 or should it be set to tight ? can someone please help me in this area, thanks.

Open will prevent the scanner from scanning, even if there is no signal on a channel. I'd start with 2 or 3, and then increase if the scanner stops on too much static.

I keep the squelch set on 2.
