The 436 is the more capable, more featured, database radio.

325 is capable of receiving the same systems and frequencies and in a package half the size of the 436. But it is not a database radio and lacks many features of the 436.

I saw your other thread about Uniden and NXDN. I would say that if Uniden does add that mode to one of its existing models it would almost certainly be added to the 436 first. And I personally believe they will add it eventually. Many have been clamouring for it, especially since the Whistler NXDN upgrade was released. And it is a mode that seems to be gaining traction, not just with railroads but also business and even Public Safety. I just hope they're not saving NXDN exclusively for the next generation of Uniden models.

The BCD436HP by far. I had a 325, cons: Poor UHF/VHF reception, low audio, and poor battery capacity. Pros: Nice display and size.

325 is a nice scanner, but the 436HP is top of the line. For anyone looking for one scanner only, I always recommend either the 536HP as a base or 436HP as a handheld. Hands down the best available on the market today. If they were twice the price of a 325, one might think about it. But at only 100 dollars plus/minus more, no contest.

Is the 325 just a digital version of the 125AT or is the receiver completely different?

I ask because my BC125AT has GREAT VHF/UHF reception, loud audio, and decent battery capacity.
