Looking at buying a BCD436HP as an upgrade from the 325P2. Is it worth it? Any feedback is appreciated.

The biggest difference over the 325P2 is that the 436HP stores the entire RR Database internal to the radio on a Micro SD memory card. In Michigan I think you'd be happier with the newest series, SDS100.

They're all programmable. Using the BCD325P2 you have to connect to RR's database and download what you want but you are limited to how many systems & talk-groups due to memory limitations in the 325P2. This is especially important if you want access to numerous sites, etc and do so from different locations. The SDS100 store the entire U.S. & Canada database on the Micro SD card so you always have full access to everything. The is really a plus when using GPS.
Oh that sounds great then. Any downsides from the 325?

Alright, thanks. The 436 doesn't have any of the micro-chip GPS stuff? Just manual programming?
None of the current scanner models come with a 'built in' GPS, to set your location. You can purchase a GPS kit that will update your location as you move around one or more states. You do also have the option of simply setting your location, and a range, then letting the scanner use data from the main database to enable channels and talkgroups that match your selected service types.

One of the members on RadioReference, jonwienke, does offer a modification to install a GPS chip inside various Uniden model scanners, but that is an option, not a requirement, to be able to use GPS.

The internal GPS I do is more convenient than Uniden's external kit, but they work the same way.
