You'd probably get better responses in the UNIDEN forum than in General Scanning.Looking for a easy to use and reasonably priced programming software for a bcd436hp.
As noted above, ARC536 can handle programming for your 436HP. The cost for the Basic version of the software, about $40, supports programming, and downloads from the RadioReference database (since you are a Premium Subscriber). If you also want to use virtual control, as well as logging, then you would have to acquire the "Pro" version of ARC536, which is about $70. The program supports both the 436HP & 536HP, as well as the SDS100 & SDS200.Looking for a easy to use and reasonably priced programming software for a bcd436hp.
Programming a 436HP by hand is no easy task, even for a seasoned hobbyist. Maybe a few conventional objects here and there but a trunked radio system? forget about it!There's always the option just to do it by hand.
I don't know if there are any others than Sentinel, ARC and ProScan. What can be regarded as easy to use are probably up to the individual user. Sentinel is free and I think it is dead simple to use. ARC and Proscan both have test/demo mode to try out before purchase and they both have more features and options if you do complicated work like creating custom search ranges in scanlists or you do a lot of rearranging moving data around that needs the use of advanced copy and paste functions. But it doesn't sound as you will be doing that sort of advanced editing. Sentinel can also use basic cut&paste functions and probably covers most of your needs.Looking for a easy to use and reasonably priced programming software for a bcd436hp.
I've programmed several systems on mine by hand. Sure it takes longer but it can be done. To each their own.Programming a 436HP by hand is no easy task, even for a seasoned hobbyist. Maybe a few conventional objects here and there but a trunked radio system? forget about it!
How many channels? Manually entering channel names/text tags takes time considering 40 displayed characters. It could take a few minutes per channel versus a few seconds typing in the channel names. Hopefully your scanner will not have a memory loss or need resetting.I've programmed several systems on mine by hand. Sure it takes longer but it can be done. To each their own.
I just like to do it my own way. If I make mistakes I'll try to correct them.So have I, never said it couldn't be done, it's just more trouble than it's worth & you're more likely to make mistakes
Once I program a system, I tend to leave it the way it is.I'll check the data base on here if there are any updates. I usually don't tag the individual talkgroups since I pretty much know the numbers by sight as to which group it is. Like I said, to each their own.How many channels?
