I recently purchased a BCD486 scanner and wanted to update the firmware and database as recommended using Sentinel. The database updated without a problem, but when I went to update the firmware, Sentinel claimed my scanner already had the latest version (1.28.14). Is that in fact correct version of the latest update for the BCD486 scanner?

If you have the latest version of Sentinel - then if it says so, yes.

Most models (almost all of them) will have such changes, so this could be the reason.
