I'm apparently missing why using this scanner to receive Broadcastify feeds would be of any use to anyone, when it's already possible to do so by the Broadcastify website itself and any number of third party programs and apps for just about every imaginable platform whether it be PC, tablet, or smartphone.
I certainly hope that Uniden is putting an effort into more constructive updates than using the WiFi feature of the scanner to receive scanner feeds.
Understanding that such a "feature" is purely speculative, again if I'm missing something I'm all ears.![]()
Kinda interesting (presuming Gommert made the video). Should one anticipate Butel is in the process of creating programming software for the new models which may be available when the new models come out?
Well for me it would be great. I do not have a smartphone nor a tablet that is 3G, 4G or whatever. I would love to be able to listen to FDNY or even my own feed during my 1 hour and 30 minutes ride to school.
Will you be able to clean out the memory and customize it using a Butel software? I only listen to Fire and EMS. I travel using GPS and hope not to keep having to lockout police and other channel as I drive. Thanks
The 536 does not connect to the internet, it connects to your LAN via WiFi. So you'll never receive scanner feeds in your vehicle unless you have a device in the vehicle that is connecting to the internet via a 3G, 4G, etc. type of connection, and you're using that device as a hotspot.
Well maybe that is the upgrade for March? Not sure what else could be upgraded for Wi-fi. To be honest I am not familiar with all that stuff. I know how to use it and connect but thats it.
Otherwise why not just use Scanner Radio or any of the other feed apps out there?
Since Gromert (sp) has one, I'd expect software. He supplies one for the HP-1, nut IMHO, there is little it does that can not be done in Sentinel.
As someone else said - you can pre-make GPS enabled favorites and only have what you want in them using Sentinel.
Fair enough, but I don't see anything above a limited feed description being availble.Again, I do not own a smartphone or tablet with internet connectivity.
At this point I haven't seen a word about a remote head being available for this. Everyone is saying to control it via a smartphone or tablet using the ad-hoc WiFi.Will I be able to mount this unit in my trunk and have a control head in my console of my car?

Hello Uniden: I am very excited about the BCD536HP. I am a pilot / reporter and have 4 996xt’s in the helicopter. I would be happy to replace all of them but the problem I face is a remote head. Does the unit have the capability to have a hard wire remote? WiFi I do not think will work for me in the helicopter.
I can't think of a reason why the wifi wouldn't work in a helicopter. Unless I am missing something?
Get a few nexus7-like tablets and use them as wireless remote heads.

Let's look at their dimensions:I can't think of a reason why the wifi wouldn't work in a helicopter. Unless I am missing something?
