I'm not aware of driver support for the 536 yet so I re-wrote the INF file for the HP-1. I've confirmed it works on my computer but I'm not familiar with using the commands.

Sorry but this is for Vista/Win7 only.

Wayne this is probably a dumb question but how is this driver installed? A small few of us aren't driver savvy like many of you are,

Thanks

Unzip it somewhere like the desktop or whatever. Go to device manager and find the list of serial ports. Find the one with the yellow warning ! triangle. Right click and choose update driver. Choose the search for driver (not let windows find it). Navigate to where you stored it such as desktop then hit OK. Mine installed and shows as comport 5 now.

Thanks Wayne

Wayne, you are an absolute Genius! After Installing that file successfully I re-booted the PC and re-started Scannercast and Comm-5 appeared, Started Scannercast and YES! Alpha tags are being sent from the BCD536HP! I did have to check the Uniden 396/996 box but it appears to be working great! You just might be the Streaming hero of the BCDx36HP scanner for the broadcasting world!

I tried this driver too and it seems to have have installed correctly however ScannerCast does not seem to like it when I connect to the newly assigned COM5 port.

When I connect the USB cable the scanner does its normal prompt for mass store or serial port.
If I don't respond to pressing "E" or ".", ScannerCast can read the tags but it remains static. If I press "." and then launch ScannerCast the program aborts and will not run.

I am running Windows 7 Professional. ScannerCast Version is V0.14

Using a terminal emulator I can connect to COM5 but sending any characters followed by a CR it echos back ERR so it is definitely communicating with the BCD536HP

Does anyone have a suggestion on what may be happening to cause this?

i am having the same issue using this method on my bcd436 hope a solution comes up as i would love to provide alpha tags for my listeners.
