My Close Call keeps picking up multiple "Phantom Freqs" and will sit stuck
and roll through a bunch of freqs from 144-159.620. There is no sound and these freqs when plugged into other scanners are dead. They also cannot be locked out, at times it rolls thru a bunch of freqs like a counter scanning from 144-159.62. I live in a semi rural area so interference should not be a problem. I have turned of all other electronics in my room. I've had the 996 about a month and this just started a couple days ago.
I cannot turn CC OFF either, it does this every cycle thru. I also tried just turning off
the Vhf portion and it still showed these freqs cycling. My last 2 fixes tried where backing
the sql completely off and a hard reset, neither helped.

Any ideas?

Mike

Do you have the function turned on that re-scans the last 10 close call frequencies?

Also, if I don't hit L/O twice for each frequency and I turn the radio off and then back on, the temporary L/O resets and the process starts over.

Close Call figured problem figured out

As Dave posted its the stored freqs that are cycling through each scan. Would
be nice if this was mentioned in the manual.

New problem tonight is the Control Channel keeps stopping on itself on Moto
Trs. I did get this somewhat fixed before by just not scanning the problamatic
sites on the Statewide TRS. Now its doing it on sites that worked fine in the
past.

Any ideas, I've tried all the other CC drop tips?

Thanks
Mike
