BCD325P2/BCD996P2: BCD996P2 display information

I have a BCD996P2 (fairly new owner) & I noticed that on pictures of digital scanners you can see the talk group & agency listed in the display. Does this information have to be entered manually or does one have to adjust the settings for this info to be displayed automatically from the system(s)?

Some of it comes with the transmission - some can be entered.

It also depends what your Display Mode is set to.

I'm not having any luck with this. No worries, I'll get by w/o this feature.

I've just got one of those too.
Freescan makes it easy.

It is far faster and easier programming the scanner using software. FreeSCAN is FREE! Downloads - Sixspot Software FreeSCAN is all you need for P25 systems. Your scanner requires paid upgrades for DMR or NXDN. DMR and NXDN systems require either ARC-XT or ProScan software. They are paid programs. Both have a free trial period to determine which one you like best. Here is a PDF file to give you information about how to use quick keys. The manuals are pretty vague.

Put the channel in Hold then press the big knob(to put it in Function mode) then press the 6/DISP key to toggle the display modes.

alpha tags are manually programmed into the scanner as you set up each system.

I press hold, then 6, & what I get is Direct Entry 6. That's it.

Ok, it says Mode 2. Then what?

That's Display Mode 2. If you want Display Mode 3 then press the 6/DISP key again. If the scanner Function times out then press the Big Knob to put it in Function. If the scanner is not holding on to a channel then do it all over again and press the 6/DISP until you get the Display Mode you want.
