Is there a way to manually choose what control frequency the scanner uses on a P25 system? My scanner was using one particular frequency for quite a while and then it randomly changed to another one day. Scanner has not been moved around at all, not sure why it would change.

Some sites have multiple control channels and may switch at any time.



You can select which site you want to monitor through programming but you can't dictate which control channel will be used.

Check the database for your area.

It shouldn't matter. So long as the scanner captures the control channel and its data, you don't (and should not) need a dedicated control channel.

Just be sure all frequencies, both “Control Channels” (primary AND secondary) and “Talk” frequencies are included for the sites you are not “Avoid”ing.

Actually voice channels (Non-control channels) aren't needed. The scanner is a "control channel" only scanner except Harris systems.
