BCD325P2/BCD996P2: BCD996P2 programming

Hi all! I am in east texas (Shelby county) and I am trying to program my uniden bcd996p2 scanner. I had it working for a few days, then my husband said it quit working. I have reset it, reprogrammed it, tried freescan, proscan, ARC TX, I am at my wits end. It says it is scanning, but nothing is picking up. I have never programmed a scanner before, but I don't understand how it was working, then quit. I'm sure that there is something that I am not doing correctly, a setting not set right in the software or something. Can anyone help me?

If you did a factory reset try going to your local NOAA freq and see if its receiving.

Having a look at the database for Shelby County TX I'm seeing a P25 conventional sheriff frequency and various analog conventional fire frequencies. OP: Are you using the antenna that came with the scanner? If so do you have a local NOAA weather frequency you can tune to to test reception? (press WX button on scanner) If using the scanner indoors try moving it towards a window or an exterior wall. You'd be amazed at how much a house itself & electrical devices contained within can hamper radio signals you wish to receive without the use of an outdoor antenna. Simply switching on a light or opening your refrigerator can generate enough RFI to keep you from hearing what you're after.

Check if systems, sites, or frequencies are locked out. If HOLD is flashing on the screen, press the HOLD/RESUME button for about 3 seconds to exit System Hold. If the systems are using quick keys, they may be turned off. Here is a PDF file that will answer all of your questions about using quick keys:

Thanks everyone! We figured out our outdoor antenna is no longer any good (we think it was hit by lightning). We put the small antenna that came with it back on and we will be installing a new outdoor antenna ASAP.
