That looks like a great deal! Too bad I won't be getting one. I have no use for it. I like the features it offers but I bit on the BCD396T and it fits my needs. But to everyong who is out for this, that is a good price!

I'll be waiting to buy one... this'll let all the bugs get worked out first.

I am looking forward to the GPS functions because of my traveling (Gumball Rally Style) all over.

Unlike GRE models, if bugs are found in the Uniden line you just have to download a patch. Not really that big of a deal if you have access to a computer.

It sure was hard to download the silk screen fix. lol

It was repaired but several of us did have to send it in. But Uniden is great at issuing fixes reasonably quickly for any "bugs" that do show up.

You don't need to worry about shipping to Canada.

Bottom line is USAScan believes you need some non-existant digital licence before you can purchase one from them if you reside in Canada.

Industry Canada has never issued such licences. The documents on the website are Internal Policy Documents and have never made it into the Radio Act.

Save your shipping money and buy from somebody with a clue. ScannerMaster and Grove Enterprises are two reputable dealers I've bought from without such digital licence hassles.

My mistake - pricing was for the BC898T. Sorry for the false alarm!

I'll be getting a 996T but not for a year. I just got my 396T and the wife would shoot me for getting another expensive scanner so quickly!! LOL :)

Same here, lol. I bought the 396T about a year ago, but I also bought a Pro-97 and Pro-2055 in the last couple of months. I bought a Yaesu VR-120 used that my wife is yet to find out about, lol. I am set as far as scanners as of now.....I may sell and upgrade to the digital later, but for now I am happy with what I have. I would like to have the 996T but I just can't justify it at the moment. I take my BCD396T everywhere and the mobile unit just wouldn't serve me at this point. I may wait and get the BCT15 for my pickup or the home, maybe.

But to stay on topic, I have to say I am suprised to see the BCD996T at $519. I thought for sure it would push $550 +. I am glad it is staying around $500. I hope that the BCT15 stays around $210 like the BC246T. But I figure it will be priced similar to the BR330T around $260.

The Pic on the Uniden website is silver, not black.

Yes, I think thats going to be the final appearance ...

I personally like the aesthetics of the preliminary (black casing) better than the silver. I reckon I could paint it black; LOL!

I agree ~$500 for the BCD996T seems like an outstanding deal!
