Well I can't figure this one out. I upgraded my 996's firmware and reprogrammed the thing, and for some reason my emergency alert doesn't alert when it stops on the system I programmed it to alert on. any idea's? Oh I downgraded it back and that wasn't the problem either, so I'll upgrade it back to version 3..

Thanks

If i'm understanding you correctly, you want to have an alert for a system?
I think you can only do alerts for a specific talkgroup (in trunked) or frequency (for conventional).

For the "emergency alert," that would only activate on a trunked system when someone hits their "emergency" button on the radio.

Thats what I started to think. I wanted an alert to go off when say Warren pd stops. I'll play a bit and see what happens.. thanks

Just a hint if you wanted to alert to each time the system went active you could program in ALL talkgroups then set an alert for EVERY talkgroup

That way when any known talkgroups in that system is active you will hear an alert
Wont work for new talkgroups though.

I wish there were some type of option to only have the alert sound once per progammed freq/TG until after the scanner resumes scanning. I don't use the alert per freq/TG because it sounds each time the freq/TG breaks squelch. This can become a real nuisance. I know that the arguement would be under the current configuration, you will still be alerted if you are away from the scanner and miss the first alert, but I do a lot of unattended recording, and having the alert sound each time the scanner breaks squelch on say a mutual aid channel that has become constantly active because of a large scale event can drive you batty and make you want to throw the recording away. Just my .02 on the alert. Come on, a programmable alert that can be set to squelch break OR deactivated until the scanner leaves the freq/TG... like the logging feature on bcTool and some of the other software.
