I am on the verge of buying one of these two scanners. I will use it both in my car(s) and at home. Despite hours of searching, I can't find a reasonable comparison of features between the two.
I recognize they are closely related but the 996 must offer something more than the 396 with all that additional size and weight? What's the difference between the two?
Our locality is a Motorola Type II SmartZone currently analog but moving to digital in the next few months.
