Check your Comm Port settings, make sure the configuration on the scanner is right. If you are using a USB to Serial adapter or the Uniden USB-1 cable make sure you've installed the drivers. What software are you using?

A friend of mine had the same problem and he used or forced the program to use com port 9
I now works perfectly.

It shares is wireless card and does not interfere.
