Just got myself a BCD996XT and am currently trying to get it set up. The computer is an old Windows XP machine, the software is ScannerCast.

I bought an FTDI cable to connect the scanner to the computer through the front serial ports to the computer’s USB. I was able to program the scanner using FreeScan, and it seems to be working and transmitting the tags…

…but there’s no audio; i’m only getting audio when I connect a 3.5mm cable between the headphone Jack on the scanner and the mic Jack on the computer

I tried downloading a couple different generic USB audio drivers, but none have given me new options in the audio settings on the computer.

Is it correct that I should be able to transmit audio through the USB cable? And if so, does anyone have a preferred driver they know will work?

I don't think that model/software combination supports that. paiunt.png
The "Connect the audio" output section of the basic config documentation indicates that you need the audio piped in via headphone jack to line-in port.

Well that answers that! For some reason I thought people were sending the tags and audio over usb on their scanner feeds.

When I listen on the 5-0 Radio App, the tags populate on the screen before the audio comes through, and then the tags get stuck until another frequency transmits. Must be an error with the app, though, if everyone else is using both the serial and the audio out ports.
