I have a BCD996XT with an ESP20 external speaker. Everyone sounds nasally as if they have a clothes pin on their nose. Any suggestions on how to correct this?

There is the issue.
The thing about Digital vs Analog is that P25 sends voice and data in packets. The systems are designed for subscribers (Two-Way Radios), not scanners. You may be able to clear it up by checking the setting for that system in your scanner. Sometimes there are timing issues, based on the system. Though many scanners can pick them up, the clarity is not going to be perfect. You will hear the difference between digital and analog.
There is no fix unless scanning technology improves.

Strange thing most of the mobiles are not to bad, but the dispatchers sound terrible.
