Hi everyone:
I'm having a problem and hope you can help. A few months ago I purchased the radio and had it pre-loaded to receive Morris, Essex, Hudson and NYC frequencies. For the first few months the radio worked fine. Starting about two weeks ago, I can't hear full transmissions. I hear maybe a few words, then there is a pause then I hear a few words and a pause again. I can't figure out why the tranmissions keep getting cut off. This happens if the radio is scanning and where I lock on to one channel. This happens with all counties. Any suggestions would be very appreciated!
Thank you

Pause

Hi everyone:
I can't hear full transmissions. I hear maybe a few words, then there is a pause then I hear a few words and a pause again.

This commonly happens when you have either "Priority", "Weather Priority" or "Close Call".

The lower right corner of the display will show wx or close call icon, or PRI will show at the top of the display if this is the case.

Is Close Call or priority turned on? Either would cause the scanner to leave its current activity and perform another task before returning to the active signal. I don't have a 996 so I can't tell you how to check either (there should be some indication on the display) or turn either off.

To Deactivate

turn either off.
Jim

There are wx and pri buttons next to the display. While scanning, press these until you see an OFF condition.

Close Call is activated/deactivated by puching the squelch knob in. Push it until it says OFF.

Resume normal operations and have a nice day..

Fixed!

Thank you both VERY MUCH! I hit the squelch button and the radio tranmissions resumed with nothing being cut out.
