BCD996XT No back-light (no color)

Just now the screen on my BCD996XT went all black.. I can still see the data because it is a darker black. There is no back-light at all. I have power cycled it a couple times and the problem persists. I have reloaded the scanner DB (using ProScan) and the problem persists.

Try a hard reset 1st but it sounds like a trip to Texas is in order.

Are you able to toggle/cycle the backlight levels on the radio by pressing the volume key in?

Yes, I can cycle the brightness by pressing the VOL key. It doesn't change the display in any way. It does change the brightness of the keys. Not sure how to do a "hard reset". Thanks for your replies.

To do a hard reset, turn off the scanner, press and hold the "2", "9", and "Hold" buttons and turn the radio on. The scanner will display the option 'Restore Preprogram List? "Yes"=E/No="."' - pressing "E/Yes" will reload the pre-programmed systems and deletes all user programmed data.

Wouldn't hurt to open up the case & make sure that the ribbon cables to the display are fully seated at both ends. If they are, and you find nothing else loose (and the hard reset did not change anything), then send it in for repair.
