I lost all reception on my 996XT all of a sudden. I manually go to the channels I see "searching for control channel" appear briefly and then it races through the programed systems. I was scanning analog trunked systems and one P25 system. I don't have close call activated or priority on. It's not my antenna because my GRE 800 works fine on it. I did a reset and loaded my systems back in from a previous upload. What am I missing?

It's nearly impossible to properly diagnose this without knowing what system(s) you're scanning, but given the message, I'd say the control channel has changed to one you don't have programmed. I'd check in your state's forum and see if there's a new control channel...and I'd also check the quick key assignments and see if you might have disabled or locked one out by mistake.

Did you go into the WX function and see if you get any reception there?

Did you do side-by-side with the GRE on the same frequencies to see if the Uniden does have a bad receive?

I am in Cameron County TX scanning the CO and Harlingen, TX area. They run of a trunked MOT 800 splinter system. None of the control channels are locked out and have not changed. I tried the weather channel and I get no reception. I have an older BC780 something, and it receives the channels as well as the GRE. ( It has way better reception than the 996XT on these sites.) I guess I'll get it looked at soon.
Thanks for the replies

Sounds like you have something going on. Double check the antenna jack and make sure the center pin is still there. Sometimes if the center contact is open wide it may not make connection with the plug from the antenna.

You can open up your scanner and see if the center pin is still connected to the unit. If under warranty I'd send it back.
