I am gonna guess the Kings English is not your first language
And you cannot change the startup screen through the radio itself.
You must use a software package to modify it.

Very easy. Just Download FREESCAN and you change it easily..all you need is Freescan..the programming cable that came with your 996xt and a RS232 to USB adaptor. $10 - $15 in a computer store or $5 on ebay..

I seem to be able to add/change things in the startup message, but the Copyright screen still appears. Even in the first screen, 'digital trunking' and 'dynamic scanning' still show up. With Freescan. Don't seem to be able to make a blank startup message.

You can't eliminate the copyright - Uniden obviously wants that to show all the time.

In Freescan you should be able to change all 4 lines of text. It may not like blank lines - try putting just a period on the line if you are trying to blank them.
