I agree!
I have to concur with Marshall's findings. In the greater Charleston, SC area, we have the Palmetto 800 system, which has an architecture like NC's VIPER system. Then there's the Palmetto Project 25 system in Charleston County proper, which is simulcast over a number of towers in the area. The Uniden scanners I use work just as well as any GRE scanners that other enthusiasts have in the area. Now, there are some spots where no scanners work very well, but those places are known and are consistently poor regardless of radio manufacturer.
I understand that some folks are saying GRE products work better in their areas and conditions, but I don't see how the reason can be as simple as simulcast systems only cause problems in Uniden scanners. There has to be more to it than that, or we would all be seeing the same issues, and we are not.

Actually I listen to one hell of a large simulcast system in VIPER.
And before you even go there, yes VIPER is actually a Smartzone system but the Wake County part of VIPER operates in Simulcast format
and has both analog & digital TGs.
I have also used both my 396XT and 996XT (and HP-1) on other simulcast systems across NC as well as in SC.
So your assumption would be wrong.
