Posted in another thread: Uniden USA, a couple of scanner related announcements of their own in the not too distant future.

Could it finally be something for the XT models.

Paul really got my hopes up with that post but it looks like it was just false hope. I guess my 396XT will continue on in it's current sad state. Apparently unhappy customers aren't a concern for Uniden.

he wont he reply or post in this thread. thats how much they care about their customers.

He should at least reply here and let us know something, even if its not good news.

Uniden has not announced an update for the BCD996XT or BCD396XT. That is all I can say at this time.

Thank you, no more suspense and wondering at least.

I hope this doesn't sound too cynical, but he really still has not said anything. We all know that there has not been an announcement for an update, the real question, which Paul can not address is... is Unden planning on updating the XT's.

Personally, I am going to try and hold out for the "XT Extreme Update" where we send in our XT's with $99 to have the firmware and hardware swapped giving us the latest technology to include TDMA.

Yeah, I wasn't going to say anything but Paul could have made that same statement 12 months ago. Nothing has changed.

Are you F$%^&in kidding me? I just heard that the POS HP is getting another patch to it's beta firmware. Good Gawd. My 396XT is 2.5 years old and has been a tremendous disappointment. Now the Uniden resources are tied up putting patches on the HP? Worthless to speculate any more on existing suckers getting any support for their problems I guess.

I believe they are working on something for the HP-1 that has something to do with the V9 Database update.

If I put my thoughts into words here, the mods would delete it in a minute with good reason. That completely sucks. I remember using superior support as a good reason to buy a Uniden when I got my 396T. Boy did I get it backwards. Uniden doesn't have support unless you buy their latest revenue generator and they don't give a crap about the suckers that have already turned over their cash.

I replied to you on the other thread but will leave a message here too - fwiw. But first - I am NOT defending Uniden...I want to make that perfectly clear! From what I understand it would/will take a HARDWARE update and re-configuration in order to make the changes related to the P25 Phase II TDMA systems which are causing the problems for the 396XTs and 996XTs. And there is no way (IMHO) any company, including Uniden, is going to pull in thousands of radios to do that.

That is fine. I don't know where you got the idea that I was interested in TDMA. I just want decent audio on a Moto II mixed mode system.

I agree with you 100% they won't do that! What the users want is fix/give backs of problems that exist and can be done with an update from your own home. And reading both threads it sure sounds like your defending Uniden, and I see nothing wrong with that, but understand where we are coming from, this has been going on for a long time.

I now understand what Dan was talking about...it had nothing to do with TDMA and everything to do with mixed mode Moto II. I really wasn't defending ONLY Uniden - I would have said the same had it been GRE or any other manufacturer if it had been related to a hardware issue. But, I now know that isn't what this is all about. What I don't know - because I readily admit I'm NOT a techie, is what it would take to solve the problem!

I have called our Tech Support guy and left a message for him to see if we have what I think are two mixed mode Moto II systems active here. I did so because I *can* hear them both on my 396XT in my personal car. Yes, they have some distortion at times but I'm still able to hear them. I'll know more when I get a call back. (I'm also going to check RR to see how they have the two systems listed.)

There is no point in listening to a system local to you and then telling me that "it sounds fine here". That is irrelevant to me. Plenty of other Uniden excuse makers have already done that.

Then you're clearly the one with the problem. I (along with others) try to help, don't "defend" Uniden and if you choose to respond as you have, I will certainly leave you be.
