Is there any way to delete the pre-loaded channels that come with the scanner? I only want to scan the channels I programmed but when I hit scan, the scanner scans railroad and other pre-loaded frequencies.

If you are using software to program your scanner, such as FreeScan, you have the option to delete pre-programmed systems during the download to scanner process. You would click the "Clear All" button.

That clears anything programmed in the scanner, essentially wiping the slate clean, before sending the "new" stuff to the scanner.

He was in a service search. You cannot delete them using any method. You have to disable them as described above.

My bad - got mixed up with scanner models. The "pre-loaded" systems/frequencies (such as for Louisville KY) weren't around until the 396/996 series, except for those associated with service searches.
