Video?

Say Paul.

Do you think a comprehensive video showing exactly howto install the DMR preview release 2, for us dummies who have a slight learning curve due to intellectual delays-something in real laymens terms could be posted on Youtube?

Keep in mind Paul stated on an ARC536 thread that the firmware updates coming will probably break something in the software as they refine it, its highly unlikely you will see a sentinel update until the final version as they would have to keep changing it, and on top of that make things even more confusing for people.

if you are really serious about DMR and wanting to figure out things then i would suggest subscribing to DSD fastlane and getting the latest version of SDR Sharp. this is not like a P25 or motorola system by any stretch of the imagination, people should really research how these systems work in order to monitor them effectively.

Off in a far away place, far from u.......
I'm just going to stick to my MD380 until the final is out. It is so much easier to program a cheap Chinese radio for dmr than the scanner and using this or that in between for the cap+ systems from what I've been reading. I only have single frequency channels I need to hear by me anyways and the signal of the scanner on DMR so far is not cutting it.

I think if one needs "comprehensive instructions" on how to copy a file to a specific folder on a SD card, and restart the scanner, they probably should wait for the release version.

It shouldn't be much longer.

When it finishes, it will say something like "All LCNs found, would you like to save?" and you should hit Yes (E), at which point it will write the proper LCN order into the site data. After that point you can resume scanning.

You may need to include that rest channel, but might as well give it a try without since you've already begun. The rest channel has data bursts on it that say what activity is going on throughout the system. In fact, its presence (or absence) in the site may be why people have so much trouble with the LCN finder. Make sure you report back on your success so others know what to do. :)

I strongly recommend if your not 100% sure of the LCN associated with a frequency (Con and Cap) leave the LCN field blank during the programming phase and let the Analyzer populate that numeric field for you.

I found if you do enter a value even a zero it tends to mix up the order.

antenna makes all the difference. I run a 2m whip, a 70cm whip, a 900mhz coil, and a jpole about 42' in the air. I plan to eventually replace it with a good discone

Here is my UNOFFICIAL HOW-TO video:

It is quick and dirty... I did no editing whatsoever. Yes I am from Tennessee so please excuse the twang. :)

UPMan, I appreciate the system and tg data on unnamed conventional channels now. Would it be possible to get the data written to the recordings' metadata header for the next preview, please? :)

+1 Note nearly as useful without it. Thanks.

I found a problem:

When adding a DMR channel to an existing favorites list that also contains a P25 system when scanning that favorite list and when the DMR channel hits I lose audio after that in my P25 system in that favorite list. It stops and my 436 will stop on the P25 system but no audio. I had to delete the DMR system in that favorite list to get my audio back after I turned off and back on.

Loss of Audio on P25 with DMR; System Status Display

I noticed that tonight, too, but loss of audio does not result just when putting a DMR into the same system. I had a favorites list P25 and a conventional in another favorites list and yes, when the conventional system displays the net, site, and talkgroup info (all zeroes and a CAP indication) I lose all audio in both the P25 and conventional until I turn off the conventional FL quick key.

I very rarely get any audio on DMR channels regardless of how I program them but all I find appear to be CAP flagged. Analyze->System Status shows the color code very solidly, more so than the main DMR displays and varies from reporting 1 or 2 frequencies with all other information blank.

No personal offense, but folks who require this level of instruction probably shouldn't be using beta firmware.

If you leave the LCN blank during programming it appears it defaults to zero, how are you getting it to be blank?

Good morning,
I searched the archives and could not find am answer to my question, so I was hopeful someone here might know; will RR cull ALL of the FCC records (companies, commercial, private records) re: the new DMR receive ability, or will they just be providing information on public safety, utilities, etc. for download as they do now?
TIA
John

When I saved a partial LCN Finder session this morning, all the "unfound" LCNs were set to 0, so I think you can safely leave them at zero.
