What you think he said and what he actually said are two different things, which I find common with customers, they only hear what they want to hear. He never said soon, quite the opposit in fact.

I have searched through the posts by UPMan and your right I cannot find the post anywhere stating a time frame but I am pretty certain he did at one point in time say that a beta was a week away.. maybe I am crazy .. or maybe he said it and edited the post after.. not sure.. maybe UPMan could give us an update on the development... obviously it has been over a week since I read that and there is no BETA out so it does not really matter at this point anyhow.. but hopefully one is getting close as I am really jones'n for the app. I am pretty sure he even said the app would be released for apple first in the same post.. maybe it was n the yahoo group.. who knows.

They are useless, so many part ones, so little part 2's. He wants you to assume the technical stuff that he trying to teach you, how about a hd vid on quick key from sentinel, then upload and edit on scanner

The one I linked to was the only post by Paul on here that I remember seeing about the public beta. Looking forward to playing with it myself, but we can do nothing but wait until they deem it ready for public consumption, just tired of all the whining on here when it was a well known fact it wouldn't be out for a while.

Gee, I guess when people tell me I'm not using my common sense I get a little insulted, I have read a lot of post from people with the same issue as me and they all get trashed, I was asking for more support, documentation from uniden and you attack me and call me stupid, I have spent nanny hours on YouTube and on this forum

No defense of Uniden is necessary, the fact that the app would not be released with the scanner was well publicized by Uniden in advance.

A little homework and common sense is all it takes to be an informed consumer, no need or reason to place blame elsewhere.

The Uniden website has it listed as a feature of the product on the specs.. only in the written description is there a "+" beside the feature that states "+App release 1Q2014."

We are currently in 1Q2014 so unless you read in to that and dig deeper in the posts then one might not necessarily know at the time of purchase... that is all I am trying to point out.. in my experience buying the product I did not know until I took it out of the box that it was not released with the scanner.. it is my experience you cant tell me I am wrong or take away my right to disappointment.. You can feel free to tell me that I should have read more.. but let me assure you not all the customers will be reading on radio reference like you did before they purchase the radio.

I am very happy with the scanner itself and the performance.. for me its just the app that is the bee in my bonnet.. I would hold off on returning the unit as it is a really nice radio.

I had posted in another thread (http://forums.radioreference.com/forums-administration/283484-suggestions-clean-up-uniden-forum.html) saying this very line:

"Do not fuel the fire with your talking down to members or insulting members for wanting more for their hard earned money and publicly letting potential future customers of any product know there is problems before buying".

Let's bring this thread back around before they close yet another thread with good information in it.

So far I am really happy myself too. There are some hardware and software issues with the radio but they should hopefully be resolved in time with firmware updates and whatever Uniden decides to do with radios that have the headphone issues. Probably a new clean swap would be best.

Now I am looking forward to seeing what Whistler products are going to be out their for us consumers. Hopefully some good stuff.

I received my 536 this morning, connected it to a PC running Windows 8, set up the Sentinel software and downloaded the latest firmware and database files. Pretty simple and quick.

Current firmware, as of 4 February 2014 is 1.02.03.

Now off to learn how to refine my use of the machine.

My biggest problem is using the quick keys, and setting up 2-3 favorites

For me that was very tricky as well, the best explanation I have seen on this topic is a video that WISE made.. he goes over it in detail and certainly brought understanding to me.

You can have a video on YouTube the is not searchable only accessed with a direct link, and this video was only accessible though a link on RR, it's pretty much common sense!
