That gets me to set the Alert Tone and Alert Light for an active channel, which is for "regular" transmissions. What I was looking for is when the Emergency button is pressed on a radio.

For whatever reason, it appears you can only set this on a system once you bring it into a favorites list.

Edit the favorites list, highlight the system in the left pane (the "tree view"). On the right side, find the tab marked "Options", and there you are.

Well if wiping the old FL list is the 'proper' way do it, then either by default the Erase Favorites List should checked on, or even better the wipe should simply run the background without added user input.

Either way obviously its taken folks trial and error to figure this out, hardly the an optimal solution or software functionality design.

Huh! It's not there. I could have sworn it was there, same place it is on the Motorola Type II systems.

UPMan, is there any explanation for this? P25 systems definitely have emergency alarms that can be detected, so IMO the scanners should be able to receive and alert on this.

Favorite List Changing the Order

Hello,

I figured out how to change to the order of my favorite list but when re-programming the radios both 435 and 536 I notice the order of my favorites list in the scanners did not change ? Is there any way to change the order of the favorites list in the scanner as well ?

Thanks

Add it to the list of features that P25 systems are capable of, but the scanner does not do: Emergency alert, preemptive priority, patches... Am I missing any others?

Yeah, the P25 Trunked Emergency Alarms don't seem to work on the Unidens for some reason. I was hoping they would have added that by now on these new radios. I can see the Emergency Alarms with other radios for our local system, so I can confirm that the past 3 generations of the Uniden handhelds haven't support them for P25 systems for some reason. Maybe in a future firmware/addition hopefully?

When you write to the scanner, did you tell it to erase all FL?

It must erase all and re-write them.

Favorites lists in the scanner go by the order of the quick key assigned to them, unless I am not understanding your question.

Actually they go by the order you have them sorted in Sentinel (when you go to set scan selection > select lists to monitor) unless you're talking about scanning the lists and not going in to enable or disable them. I think mondaro was talking about the list in the select lists to monitor menu.

These are 100% what you need to do for the list to appear like they do in Sentinel.

Always make sure when you change things in the software to click the save button to retain them in the software and then whenever you change the settings in the software and want to push them out to the unit, make sure to CHECK the box to erase all FL on unit. Then everything is "synced" correctly.

Yes, but just in case, you should make for sure that in your Profile that both "Monitor and Download" are ON for all FL you wish to download to your scanner and monitor.

I think the default is for "Monitor" to be OFF and "Download" to be ON?

You only need Monitor On if you wish it to load that one/ones to listen to, you can always select that from the scanner. If you have multiple FL that you do not want to monitor, you do NOT want it on.

Download selects which to DL, but only if new or revised.

Has this been asked yet in one of the 42 pages of conversation???

Where in the software do you set what color you want the screen???

Yea, I know, I said I wasn't going to buy one of the new radios for awhile, but broke down yesterday and ordered one. You just never know, I might need it if I decide to move to Orlando, Orange County, Florida!

How do you enable Priority scan on a P25 system?

I have entered the system, site, departments and talk groups with Sentinal. I selected one department/channel and set P-Ch to ON in the sentinal software and uploaded. All departments and talk groups are scanning ok. When I hit F-.no on the scanner, none of the settings for priority work. They return a result of Priority Scan - No channel.

How do you turn it on for one TGID on the system?

I have the same problem, both conventional and P25 systems. My 996X does it, but not the 536.

I noticed something in the new online manual where it says "No P25 system", so maybe Priority TGID scanning doesnt work on P25 systems?

I know with all the police activity, Ill never hear a fire dispatch if I cant set the fire dispatch channel on priority somehow. There was something in the new manual about quick key order for the priority scanning, starting with 0. I know its going to take me months to figure this software out, since the manual for the scanner has different items than the sentinal program, and I cant for the life of me find a programming manual for the software. Id even be willing to buy a dummys guide to sentinal if there was such a thing :)
