BCT 8 Can I Dim The Display ?

I would like to dim my back light on the BCT 8. On some older Radio Shack scanners I was able to use a resistor in the positive supply to the lamp. So far I don't see anything in the manual and the front display does NOT seem to have easy access. Anyone else tried to do this ??
