bct 8 remote control help

I need some help here I have a bct 8 im using a serial to usb adapter, I have all my settings matching each other on the scanner, computer, and the bct 8 software, but my problem is every time i try to use the remote scanner control. I get an error. That tells me It could not find it basically. Any body else have this issue? If so how did you fix it?

A couple of steps here that weren't mentioned - did you load the drivers for the USB adapter, and check Device Manager to see what port was allocated? Keep in mind that the process is dumb - it can and sometimes does allocate a port that is already in use.

Finally got it figured out. I was using a usb to serial cable adapter ( 1 cable) My friend let me use his cables a serial to usb cable and a female to male serial cable and it worked fine. mine was adapter all in one, and that's where the problem lied. So i ordered the cables he has off of amazon and all should be well =D

well back to square root 1 I ordered the cables they came in just like the ones I used and back with the same problem... I want to blow this thing up... Any more ideas?
