Went to Uniden's website to update my BCT15 firmware from 1.03.04 to 1.06.00. According to their website you dont need a registration key to update to this firmware. When I went to update, the firmware uploader told me I needed a registration key for this major update. So I tried it without the key and it didnt take. So I repeated the steps again. NO GO!!! Now when I turn my scanner on the back light just blinks off and on! Tried to reset my scanner but cant even do that. Wait which seem like forever to talk with Uniden's Customer Support, so I left my number still havent heard back! Seems like the scanner is lock up can someone help!!!

After downloading the updater download the new update. When is asks for a key you should be able to skip it. That's what I did. Also you radio firmware is corrupted that us why it's blinking. Just run the new update. Also what are you using I did mine with a serial adapter. Also sometimes it takes a few minutes for it to start.

I've added the BCT15 update to the newer updater's manifest. Try installing BC_VUP3 and using it to apply the update.

Note: I've not tested the updater with that specific model...this is a quick fix just for you. But, its updating is substantially the same as all the other scanners, so I can't think of any reason it wouldn't work.

Paul, do you plan on adding the 346XT and 15X to the manifest also? I can test it out against my 346XT if you like. Just seems odd that they are listed, but there is no firmware available for them. Might confuse someone trying to update those models with the new updater.

Are you using HughesNet satellite service for your ISP?

I've seen others report problems using FTP with similar satelite based internet service providers. With Hughes Net, the solution seems to be to disable turbo mode. Perhaps there is a similar setting for Wild Blue.

I Googled "wild blue ftp" and see that there is quite a bit of information about this online.

The increasing reliance on internet access for interactive updaters is h-e-double hockey sticks on many of us in the rural world with our mishmash of non-mainstream internet providers and their attendant issues.

dave you got that right! Alot of unhappy people who are stuck using satellite in rual areas. Wild Blue is very unpopular. Ping times are out of this world and the upload speeds are terrible. I have 4Mb download and a 256kbs upload, I might get 99kbs if lucky with upload!!!
