Who else is waiting for this scanner?

I think this scanner will likley be a bigger hit than the BCD996T. Because of the price + features it will have.

I emailed one dealer (They will remain nameless) about the BCT15 and when they expect the first shipments and they said they wasn't sure if they would even carry such a scanner..... Yeah, right. When the sales go through the roof, they'll be rushing them to their store.

Anyway, I have the BCD396T for my digital stuff, so I have opted to go for the BCT15 as an addition to my Pro-2055 in the shack. If I like the scanner a lot, I may get one for the truck?

Mr. Opitz stated in the BCT15 Yahoo group that we are looking at about a month or so before release.

Just curious who else is anxiously waiting for this scanner?

I am also awaiting the BC-15 scanner. I, like you, have the 396T for digital comms, and would like to have a nice mobile/desktop unit for Civ/Mil Aero and other analog comms.

I haven't read too much material on this model as compared to the 996, but will it sport the exacat same features minus the digital support?

Correct. It also has the beartracker feature but that is of no use to me. Also has 2500 channels versus the 6000 on the 996t

I am also waiting for this scanner. I don't need digital, so this scanner will be perfect.

I hope the VHF-High sensitivity is better than that of the BCD396T. I am really banking on this for my base unit.

I like the 2055 but I am more of a Uniden man myself. I like the dynamic memory setup and the temporary lockout features the best. The Close Call Do Not Disturb is awsome as well and will really be put to use if it goes mobile with me. The startup configuration is a great feature too! Don't forget ........ Mil Air !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I may sell my Pro-97 or Sangean ATS-909 to fund the purchase of a 2nd BCT15 if the sensitivty is good. Or I might try to save for a BCD996T later? But the BCT15 is first on my list.

Looking forward to the 15 as well. My main reason is the easy transfer of data from the 396/330 to the 15. Would I rather have the 996, yes......would I like to stay married......yes!
Will most likely sell the 780 to help with the purchase of the 15.
Only need 1 base.

Note that if you are planning to mount the BCT15 in your vehicle dash, and have a DIN-E type enclosure, you'll need the DIN-E sleeve accessory (DIN-0001). This accessory just went "live" at Uniden's store.
http://www.uniden.com/store/accdetail.cfm?item=DIN-0001

No accessory bracket is needed for DIN-ISO installations (although you will need to get screws appropriate to your vehicle's chassis).

I agree Uniden calls it A "base/mobile". It's just a cheap piece of stamped out metal. Why not throw it in? It's like buying A base and not getting the power coard.

Pre-Order BCT-15 for $125.50 incl shipping???

Anybody ever used this vendor?? [www.cfeproducts.com] He's on a site hosted by Yahoo.

http://www.cfeproducts.com/bescbct15wif.html

Am I being overly skeptical because this price sounds waaay too good to be true for a hot new model. When I called and talked with the gentleman at cfe he asked me for the model number and said he was going to double-check and for me to call him back in an hour.

According to his site, he charges 519.95 for the `996 including shipping. He also indicates that he does not process credit cards until time of shipping.

If I get any additional info from cfe, I'll update my posting.

Didn't his accessory come with the BCD996T? Why was it excluded from the BCT15? Just curious.

matt

Part of the compromise needed to keep the price down to the target. It is also possible that there will be a thriving market on E*Bay for this with the sellers being BCD996T owners who won't need the bracket...

Regarding the $125 price...it is either a typo or they are taking it as a loss leader, because that would be way below cost.

I wonder, could you buy the front face and swap it onto a 996?

I absolutely DETEST that cheap looking gawdy silver. It makes me ill.

But, I'm still buying one, of course.

BCT-15 for $125??? NOT!

I just spoke with the guy at cfeproducts again and he admitted that someone there made a big WHOOPS on the website. They don't have a price from the factory yet and he says it'll be more like the $225 range not the $125 range, but that he's just guesstimating now. He's not expecting them for 3-4 weeks, which goes along with the timeline the UPMan gave us earlier.

Hate it when that happens...

At least his prices were good and included shipping. Will have to mark his site for later.

It is highly unlikely that I will even need the bracket, i was just curious.

I will likely use the first one as a base. If I like it, i may get another for the truck or a BCD996T if I can somehow convince my wife that is what I need. :D

I'm itching to get one too. There's really no P25 in my area other than ATF and it's rare to even hear them here so this model will work fine. I may sell one of my 785d's to fund one of these. I'm hoping to get two and put one in my truck. I'm primiarily interested in the close call being in a mobile unit. That's the biggest selling point for me.. well, and the text tags!
