Josh, ignore the hex codes (I'm assuming here that you're trying to program a trunked system - it would be most helpful if we knew which one). They are used only for professional radios such as those from Motorola. It's an important question - many folks have bought scanners like the BCT15 only to find that their local trunking system uses a format it cannot handle.

Just from the tone of the question, it appears that you may be somewhat new to trunktracking. If so , we have a Trunking wiki article that can get you started. Read the basics and other FAQs first. There is also an excellant article on programming the new Dynamic Memory Architecture (DMA) radios by UPMan which is well worth the reading. It can be found here (anything in blue is a link).

Some folks, when starting out, find that programming the scanner with software is easier to learn (although it is valuable to learn how to do it manually....). If you go to the Uniden website and register (free), you will be able to download the UASD (Uniden Advanced System Director) for the BCT15 (be sure to purchase the registration key for the software). Then you can search around for files from your area. Post questions in your state's forum, see if there's a Yahoo group for your area (not unheard of to get files that way) and check on the BCT15 Yahoo groups. All are potential sources of files. Just make sure you say that you want files for the UASD for the BCT15; there are a couple of other programming packages out there for this scanner.
