Hey everyone, I'm new to scanning, and have found most all the frequencies for the area that I live in (ottawa county, michigan) but I still have not been able to understand how to program a trunked system.

I found this on the forums, and Holland is one area I scan, but I do not know how to decypher this info into my scanner through manual programming.

"Here is what I have from the last trip to Holland using etrunk:
System 0001 LCN 01 857.9375 Control channel. Etrunk displayed 7 LCN's overnight. The frequency and LCN match the Allegan county system south of Holland. Only 4 talkgroups were reported: (AFS) 00-021, 00-041, 15-130, and 15-131. The last two are close to the talkgroups list for Allegan, but not an exact match: http://radioreference.com/modules.php?name=TRSDB&sid=1464

The FCC ID listed on RadioReference is: WQAY719, Police Call 2005 lists the system as WPPF573 :!:

System 0002 LCN 01 858.2625 Control channel and has 3 LCN's reported. (LCN's 1,2, and 3) Talkgroups: (AFS) 00-021, 15-130, and 15-131. So this looks like a simulcast of system 0001.

System 0008 LCN 01 859.8125 Control Channel
LCN 12 855.6375

System 0008 has 5 LCN's reported: 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, and the talkgroups are: (AFS) 00-101, 00-141, 01-120, 02-056, 02-057, 02-090, 02-133, 04-051, 04-052, 04-053, 04-057, 04-064, 04-073, 09-001, 09-003, 09-005, 09-007, 09-011, 09-013, 09-016, 10-045, 10-093, 15-105, 15-111, 15-112."

I was also looking the database, and I found this, but again do not know how to use the information to program the system into my scanner.

Ottawa County (70) Talkgroups

Ottawa County (70) Talkgroups

DEC HEX Mode Display Description
3031 bd7 D 70DRUG Countywide Narcotics Enforcement Common
3324 cfc D 70P911 Central 9-1-1 Police - Dispatch
3554 de2 D 70MED? EMS-to-Lakeshore Hospital
6127 17ef D 70HEALTH County Health Dept.

Any help would be appreciated.

Programming the info into the BCT15 really can't be done the system your talking about is digital and the BCT15 can only do analog.

No, that's how Dynamic Memory Allocation works.

I checked the database for Allegan county (anything in blue is a link), and this shows the system using ProVoice and analog. While you would be able to listen to whatever talkgroups are in analog mode, no scanner can handle ProVoice. Anything for the 2 counties that matches is mere coincidence - don't try comparing systems in this way. It simply won't work that way.

However the database shows a large number of conventional freqs for Ottawa County and those the BCT15 should have no trouble handling. If you are having trouble grasping the DMA concepts, there is an easier to read manual for the BCT15 - most have found the Uniden manual to be rather poor - this one is much better.

You would, I suspect, also profit from reading the Trunking Basics links we have in our wiki. When you bring up the wiki (top blue toolbar, click on 'wiki') go down to the section labeled 'Forum Specific topics' and 'Trunking'. You will find numerous links to help educate you as to what that means.
