The BCT15 and BC898T are about the same price, yet the BCT15 seems to have more features. Aside from the base station form factor (which I do like), why would one purchase a BC898T
over the BCT15?

i purchased the 898t over the bc15t because of the looks, and from researching alot of reviews.alpha tagging doesnt impress me much,as i got familiar with the talkgroups that i monitor.as far as the close call feature,i hate listening to something interesting just to have it interrupted by something local that isnt.it all depends on what you want and like.i have no regrets whatsoever purchasing the 898t almost a year ago, great scanner.

I own both and i would not trade either. The 898T is great for searching easier to program so i use them in tandem. If I had to pick one it would be the BCT-15 but the 898T is a great great scanner. The 898T is actually more sensitive than the Bct-15..

I have both radios.
If you have a computer nearby the scanner, I'd go with the BCT15.
Otherwise, the 898T is much easier to manage without a computer. I like the squelch tail on the 898 much better than the 15.
Both are great. I have the BCT15 in my office (connected permanently to an XP computer via the rear port), and the BC898T on the bedroom nightstand.

If your referring to the Close Call funtion. You can put it in CC DND mode. 'Close Call - Do Not Disturb' That way if the scanner is picking up traffic on one of the channels, it will not interupt till your scanner goes back into scan.
