My BCT15 dont hold signal with my programmed channels while I have beartracker enabled. They skip out every two seconds or so even with full signal. Signal bar drops for a split second then comes back with audio again. When I disable beartracker all channels work perfectly without any cut outs. All of the AIR, HAM and other channels embeded in the scanner work perfect with beartracker enabled. If anyone could throw any ideas at me it would greatly appreciated.

Well, for a more verbose response:

BearTracker checks for activity on the enabled features every 2 seconds. So, during normal scanning, when the scanner stops on a channel you will hear the audio drop when it makes the check.

Thanks for the info UPman. It’s the first scanner I have owned with the Beartracker feature. Just wanted to make sure there were no factory defects. Thanks again.

Learned a new word today, "verbose". Never heard that word before, or saw it in print, that I know of!

Thanks

Was reading up on the beartracker stuff, never seen that before, that is pretty cool. Does the 996 have that?

It is just in the "BCT" series (BCT7 (discon), BCT8, BCT15). You can simulate much of it in a 996 by programming system input frequencies in conventional mode and using channel alerts, but it isn't an implemented feature.

Speaking of the Beartracker feature, my BCT-8 kept me safe when driving through south Georgia several years ago. Although I wasn’t speeding, when the LE channel became active I slowed down a bit. Good thing because just around the next sharp curve was an officer who had pulled someone over, and both vehicles extended quite far out onto the roadway. I might have plowed into them if my radio hadn’t alerted me.

New owner of a BCT15 here,

Have a question regarding Beartracker. I want to permanently disable it, as this scanner is used strictly at home. I know that pressing the POL and HP keys will disable the PL DT HP BT on the display and disables the Beartracker feature, but whenever I upload programming via software the Beartracker feature and displays are BACK!

How do I disable this feature TOTALLY and PERMANENTLY? Is it possible or do I just have to keep pressing the POL and HP buttons?

Thanks for any input.
