I am looking at purchasing a BCT15 scanner and was wondering if it will decode Motorola p16 digital?
I have a system nearby that uses that protocal and was interested in monitoring it. I know that it is not encrypted.

The BCT15 &/or BCT15X will handle Motorola, EDACS and LTR analog voice trunked systems. I think by P16 you mean APCO16 that has a digital control channel with analog voice. If that is the case then yes it will handle that system. If the VOICE of the trunked system is digital voice then no it won't handle digital voice and you need a BCD396XT/ BCD996XT / BC796D or BC296D.
You can find out what is used by looking at the system in the Radioreference database. It will list what is used for the system and for mixed digital and analog VOICE it will indicate that it is used.

Thanks for the reply. The system is using both analog and digital talkgroups. So it looks like I'll have to upgrade my choice of scanner.
