Just bought the BCT15
(with the exchange rate US/CND could resist)

what an inprovement.. I was using the PRO-2051 before...

Like the Scanner with the usb cable... cool!

my question is:

I never used software to connect a scanner to my PC.
there are so many flavours. and very $$$

what would work great? and is there some freeware version?

and do I still need to find the discriminator tap? like my old PRO-2051?
to get DATA in my PC from Scanner?

Thank you
for your Help.
and looking foward to be a $$ member in here!

<sigh> Steve, once again our Wiki is your friend.....

Let me address the 2nd comment about a discriminator tap first - I don't have any firsthand knowledge of where exactly to find the right place to tap, but I am willing to suggest a little logic here; since the BCT15 is the little brother to the 996, and has the same outside casing and displays, it is possible the board layout is very similar. Thus, looking at where the 996's Discriminator Output is just might the same as on the 15. Note that you would only need this to run programs like UniTrunker.

There is no freeware, afaik, that works for programming the BCT15; ARC15 is generally considered the champ, but there are others as well...the BCT15 wiki page has a listing of the known software that works with the 15. I'd avoid Scancat Lite Plus like the NY Rangers....it's been written about here and on the software forum quite extensively so I won't go into details here.
