BCT15X Hum

I'm getting a hum when I listen to radio. Happens with rubber duck or telescopic antenna. The hum goes away the further I get the radio away from the wall. Any ideas what I can do besides moving it away from the wall.

That is generally due to the scanner not knowing the words...

Seriously, something at, in, or on the other side of the wall is generating interference. In general, you need to either fix the source of interference or distance the scanner's antenna from the interference (assuming it is being conducted into the scanner via the antenna).

Many years ago, about 1974 I think, I said something like this to a customer who brought a broken stereo receiver into the shop where I was working. He actually thought it was funny, but my boss didn't.

To get this back on track....if you're using a wall wart, try substituting a known filtered DC supply instead. These cheap warts have next to nothing in the shielding department, and are well known to be a source of hum in some cases 73 Mike
