Bct15x id scan/search beeps

I've not really needed ID Search mode until recently, driving through an area in southern UT where they are converting over to trunking from conventional, and the talk group IDs are yet to be discovered. I have my systems set up to run in SCAN mode, but if I press the "SEARCH/SCAN" button on the BCT15X, it just gives me the error beeps, stays in SCAN mode. I cannot make it go to SEARCH mode using the controls.... Not sure what is up with that.
