BCT15X: BCT15X problem

i bought a new scanin er off of ebay...tried to program with butel software...well when i attempted by clear memory by turn off and on it cleared the memory so it says but when it clears it starts scanning the state of alabama for some reason. i attempted to clear the alabama programming it would not clear..how do i get rid of this programming

That’s a default factory thing, read the ”easier to read manual” it helps you understand the scanner better. Easier to Read BCT15-X Scanner Manual You want to turn off beartracker scanning.

See this video to disable the service searches. Once you do that, re-upload your programming

Keep in mind that this is an analog only scanner. It will NOT do any digital modes such as Phase 1, 2, MOTOTRBO, etc.

Question? What Butel software are you using? ARC15 is for the BCT15 only. For the BCT15X, you need ARC-XT.

Also where are you from? Are you certain you don't have any P25 (digital) in your area you're looking to pick up (which as mentioned above me isn't trackable by the 15X)?

At the very least you'll need one of the "FDMA" scanners listed here to track a P25 Phase-I system (if you have no intentions of ever monitoring Phase-II). If sites on your system(s) of interest are simulcast (yes, Phase-I simulcast sites do exist) I'd strongly recommend the SDS100 or SDS200 due to the likelihood of simulcast distortion
